In this dictionary, I found out what “the pen is mightier than the sword” means. In this sentence, the sword represents violence and the pen represents peace. So this sentence means peace is better than violence.

In this site, I found out where the sentence “the pen is mightier than the sword” was first used. It was first used in a play called Richelieu; Or the Conspiracy which was made by an English author named Edward Bulwer-Lytton. The play was about Cardinal Richelieu and a conspiracy.
